Debra Messing, Zachary Quinto and Jason Alexander are some of the celebrities scheduled to be on hand Saturday, Sept. 12, at the El Portal Theatre for a one-night-only staged reading of 12 new short plays inspired by the debate over Proposition 8 in California.
“Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays” will feature original works by playwrights including Terrence McNally, Susan Miller, Jose Rivera, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Albert Innaurato, Kira Obolensky, Jeffrey Hatcher and more.
Also included in the cast will be Hamish Linklater, Clark Gregg, Dan Lauria, Peter Paige and Lisa Edelstein. (Chad Allen, who is listed on the poster, left, has had to withdraw from the show, according to a publicist.)
The production is being organized by the Attic Theatre Conservatory’s director Brian Shnipper, who will also direct the production.
Each of the 12 plays will run several minutes in length and will address some aspect of gay marriage using a wide range of approaches including comedy, drama and high camp.
Tickets are going for $60 to $80, and the proceeds will benefit the Human Rights Campaign

The finale of the 2009 Las Vegas “Star Trek” convention was an amazing day.
I spent the whole day in the “Gene and Majel Roddenberry Theatre (now once more, the Barron Room.)
The first guest was the new Mr. Spock, Zachary Quinto. Zachary is eloquent and funny. He seems like a very warm young man. He certainly is good on-stage with no script (some actors aren’t.)
He fielded questions from the audience about his part in J.J. Abrams “Star Trek”. How he found out he got the part, (in bed.) What he thought about his fellow actors in the new film (he made jokes about Chris Pine.) It looks like there will be another “Spock, Kirk” competition.
One particularly funny and warm moment was when a fan tried to get her question out and could only babble and cry. She ended up with a hug from Zachary. (I can cry….) Read more

E!Online has some news regarding the new season, with some fresh new spoilers. Check it:
Who’s the new band of characters coming from the carnival? Who’s dying? Whose love story causes its star to shrug coyly at us? And what’s the scoop on what’s likely to be the hottest triangle we’ve ever seen on television? We have your answers…
The Triangle Twist: It’s not quite the love triangle you’re looking for, but more of a bromance. Adrian Pasdar tells us what he loves about Redemption: “The whole premise of Zachary [Quinto], myself and Greg [Grunberg] having an interesting triangle of behavior. In the process of Matt crushing Sylar and having my body become his, Sylar entered Matt, so there’s a soul that’s missing in me. It’s my own Nathan behavior that’s manifesting itself through Sylar. There’s a triangle that makes itself clear by the third episode.”
Sylar and Matt: So let’s take a look at all sides of the triangle, kicking off with the man who destroyed Sylar. Sadly, it just didn’t go over well. “When I did the mind transfer, it didn’t go clean,” says Greg. “Some of him stayed in me and he needs me. He’s looking for his body, he needs his body back and he’ll do anything to do that, including kidnapping my son.” Of course when you’ve got a bad man in you, he’s going to make you do bad things. “He’s kind of hanging around in my subconscious, making me do things that I don’t want to do. I have to catch myself. I can’t get rid of him, so I decide to ignore him. But you can’t ignore Sylar for very long.”
Sylar and Nathan: Moving on to the part of the triangle that’s actually sharing a body, Pasdar says he’s been working on picking up Quinto’s mannerisms. Don’t expect everyone to be in the dark about Nathan’s true identity for long, though. Says Adrian, “I think it’s clear from the outset of season four that something is going on, least of all to Nathan. He doesn’t become aware of it. I think he’s a step behind the audience. There’s just a split second for him in terms of understanding where he’s going and what might be wrong. He catches up though.”
Do not forget the SPOILER alert, so if you don’t wanna know, don’t click.

If Zachary Quinto isn’t careful he’ll wind up on America’s Most Wanted one day.
The Star Trek star found himself answering to cops recently while filming an upcoming Funny or Die video at L.A. bakery Kiss My Bundt.
In the comedy bit, he plays a pistol-wielding robber.
“When someone saw Zach hold up a real gun and scream, ‘This is a goddamn hold up!’ they called the police,” Bundt owner Chrysta Wilson tells us.
And get this, the cops were called a second time during another take of the same scene.
Wilson said she’s not surprised the make-believe drama appeared to be real…
“Zachary is scary as hell,” she says. “I was in the back, making batter, and he was running through the script. All I could hear was, ‘Nobody f–king move!’ He plays evil very well.”
Quinto and director Hank Nelken realized they better tone things down if they wanted to get their work done.
“They knew if the cops were called again, the set was going to be shut down,” Wilson says. “They were whispering their lines in the alley. They knew they had to nail it on the last take.”
