I must say that I am no “celebrity hound”, but you have continued to impress me with your well thought out and respectfully executed dialog in any interview I have ever seen. You come across as a centered, thoughtful, intelligent guy who can become involved in any serious conversation, with something to contribute. I do believe that coming out is a personal decision, that the timing has to be right for each of us. That said, it is my hope that those who can, will. Certain concerns and situations will prevent others from coming into the light now. Your taking that step will make it easier for others to follow your lead; it may make it possible for things to start changing so more will be able to follow. “Don’t ask don’t tell” was little more than “a wink and a nod” that made no sense at all. Now that the policy is gone, perhaps other government agencies and government contractors will follow suit. When they do I will step into the light with you. If I did so now my job would be in peril. As a gay parent (and stay-home dad of twin girls) and as a pre-DADT-repeal member of the military, I totally get how one can have such dissonance between one's public life and one's private personal life. I both applaud and respect you for your courage and for your willingness to be a beacon of light to others. Assuming you live here in LA, if you haven't already done so, I would encourage you to consider getting more involved in the LGBT Center. They have great programming, and I have appreciated having them here. Many blessings to you on your journey, both professionally and personally!
